After Root Canal
Root Canals can be done in any number of appointments from 1-4, related to the complexity. After the first appointment some patients may still experience some discomfort from the residual infection. Tapping on the tooth might still elicit a slight discomfort. Within a few days this discomfort should disappear. Use of an anti-inflammatory drug (i.e. Ibuprofen, Aspirin or Aleve) during this time helps speed recovery. If you are prescribed an antibiotic, continue to take them for the indicated length of time even if symptoms subside.
